Attempt to supply salad seeds with a weed in Omsk is prevented

Specialists from the Laboratory of Quarantine Phytosanitary Examinations and Surveys of the Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor (member of Omsky Biocluster) found a seed of a dangerous weed in a batch of packaged seeds of Russian origin Mixture of Friendly Quartet Salad (batch No. 82).

The result of herbological examinations was the identification of quarantine harmful weed - dodder thin-stemmed. The genus of the dodder is the most dangerous for crop plants flowering parasitic plants, combining great viability with high fertility. The seeds of many types of dodder by weight, shape, and often color, are very similar to the seeds of cultivated plants on which they are parasitized. They can only be distinguished by careful examination. Masking of parasite seeds under the seeds of a cultivated plant is the result of parasitic adaptation. This makes it difficult to use conventional seed separation methods.

Experts of the Omsk Reference Center can provide qualified assistance in seed culture research. Information on the results of the examinations of this sample by specialists of the center was sent to the Rosselkhoznadzor Office for Omsk region.
