The harvest of cereals in 2018 may not be less than 100 million tons. This forecast is given by the Ministry of Agriculture, assessing the condition of winter fields in the southern regions of the country and readiness for spring sowing.
The Ministry of Agriculture does not see any threats to the full-scale production of grain, as in the past four years, TASS quotes the first Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dzhambulat Khatuov. Nevertheless, the official acknowledged that a certain volume of the winter field (1 million hectares out of 70) is in a special zone of risk.
Last year, a record of 40 years ago was broken in Russia. In 1978, 127 million tons of grain were harvested, and in the past - 135 million tons.
