The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia does not plan to reduce grain crops in 2018

Record volumes of harvested grain this year already make agrarians worry about the crop of 2018. Such volumes contribute to a significant reduction in prices for it. This factor can lead to a reduction in areas and, as a consequence, to a reduction in the cereals production.

However, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev believes that such a situation is unlikely. He explained that despite the problem of overproduction, which agricultural workers have faced this year, work is already underway to introduce new ways to stimulate and maintain prices. The Minister considers such measures to purchase into the intervention fund and zero the railway tariff for export, primarily through the southern ports.

Recall that in 2017 was a record for Russia in terms of collected grain - 138.3 million tons, while the previous record value was 127 million tons (1978).
