Tyumen: low level of bioprotection of pig complexes

Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (FSVPS) for Tyumen region, the Yamalo-Nenetsky and the Khanty-Mansiysky Autonomous Okrugs summed up the results of targeted inspections of the level of biological protection at enterprises engaged in pig production. In most cases, their results were disappointing.

During 2017, FSVPS staff conducted 24 visits to pig farms in Greater Tyumen. Five of them specialize in keeping, breeding and slaughtering pigs, three of them for slaughter and processing, and another 16 are engaged in the storage of pig products.

A high level of biosecurity (IV compartment) was assigned to Tyumensky Pig Complex LLC, and another six companies received an average level of biological protection (III compartment) .The level of the remaining enterprises, according to the FSVPS, does not correspond to the declared status. The main criterion for non-compliance was the existence of economic ties with low-level defense enterprises and non-compliance with the conditions for compartmentalization.
