The positive trend continued in the current year - from January to September the production of pigs (for slaughter in live weight) increased by 10.4% compared to the previous year and amounted to 3.9 million tons. This statement was made by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jambulat Khatuov at a meeting of the National Pig Producers Union of Russia.

The leaders among the regions in this area are the Kursk, Tambov, Belgorod, Orel, Voronezh regions. In total, in 2020, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, pig production will reach 5.4 million tons. At the same time, now the pedigree base fully meets the needs of commercial farms in pedigree and hybrid young stock, which makes it possible to produce products with the best consumer qualities. As noted at the meeting, the industry faces an important task to increase supplies abroad and enter new markets. Agricultural producers need to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of their products.
