On July 27, the European Commission announced the admission to the EU market of ten types of genetically modified products, including nine types used as food products or fodder, as well as one type of decorative cut flowers. The issued license is valid for ten years, however, it does not permit the cultivation of these crops in the EU.
According to a European Commission press release, among the genetically modified products admitted to the market, products from cotton, corn and soybeans, as well as one type of decorative carnations, received a new license. All ten types of genetically modified products have undergone a full licensing procedure, including the scientific examination of the European Food Safety Authority.
