Anna Popova, head of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor), announced the completion of the development of a mobile application for assessing the quality of food products in retail.
Most likely, the mobile application will be launched in December 2020, according to Food NewsTime magazine. The system will provide the consumer with information on products with electronic digital marking. Buyers will have the opportunity not to read the composition of the product, printed in small print. Until now, it has not been possible to force manufacturers to get away from the small text, despite the fact that the technical regulation has been amended to make the list of ingredients more readable, the chief sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation notes.
According to Anna Popova, Rospotrebnadzor is already negotiating with large retailers to upload to the system the databases that they have. In December of this year, it is planned to launch a new information resource, a portal dedicated to healthy eating. Access to it will be revealed through social networks. The portal, as part of the popular science column, will cover topics on how to eat properly, and on a calculator with the help of which each user can determine their health indices, proper nutrition and the number of calories needed for this. Information on products that enjoy a bad reputation and are not recommended for use will appear on the same portal.
