Pork should not be taken as 'wrong' meat

Recently, pork is often subjected to unfair criticism due to the proper nutrition popularity. Some Russians consider pork too fat and unhealthy meat, the consumption of which allegedly can lead to obesity and other unpleasant consequences for health. But is it really?

Moderate consumption of animal fats is good for health, and new research shows that fatty foods can even contribute to weight loss, Andrei Dalnov, Cherkizovo Group chief analyst says. The human body functions as a hybrid engine, it can 'work' on carbohydrates or on fats, and in most cases these energy sources are used together.

"Problems begin when the proportion is clearly violated in favor of carbohydrates. According to carbohydrate-insulin theory, carbohydrates (more precisely, glucose is a product of their breakdown) provoke the release of the hormone insulin, which 'orders' to store energy in fat cells," Andrei Dalnov explains. As a result, the available energy becomes less, metabolism slows down, and the person goes in search of food. "Further the vicious circle repeats, and the more carbohydrates we consume, the more we provoke the feeling of hunger," the expert is sure. According to the analyst, the solution to the problem lies in a balanced diet. At the same time a large proportion of calories consumed (40-60%) should fall on saturated and unsaturated fats.

Pork does not have to be fat. Different breeds of pigs exist in the industry, as well as different parts of the pig carcass. The consumer can easily choose lean pork according to their preferences. Pork should not be taken as 'wrong' meat, on the contrary, it has a number of its advantages, including the content of nutrients.
