Lamb processing plant will be launched in Khakassia

A lamb processing plant is planned to open in the Republic of Khakassia (near Prigorsk) with a planned capacity of 100K  sheep per year, or 300 heads per day. The start of production in a test mode is expected in November-December. The project was developed by Austrian partners.

 

The launch of the processing plant was announced in September, but it was already postponed to March 2019. While there are waiting for the start of finishing work and installation of equipment. Austrian engineers will arrive at the plant to set up a processing line in November. The project provides for the slaughter of animals, cooling meat, freezing, deboning. The cost of production is estimated at 5B RUR ($ 76.17M). The company plans to manufacture products under the brand 'Mutton of Khakassia', this is the first local meat brand. Certificates will be received this year, said Andrei Monisov, director of Mutton of Khakassia LLC. He also reported on future plans to launch the production of halal products and prospects for the export of mutton.
