A.Dvorkovich: adjustment of the law on GMOs is possible

Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich assumes the possibility of updating legislation on the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Russia.

During the meeting on the development of biotechnology held in Novosibirsk, a representative of the Siberian production association Sibbiofarm stated that the GMO legislation does not take into account all the nuances, and in the current form it can ruin the biotechnology industry in the country. He called to stop using GMOs as a negative and strictly delineate GMOs for food and other purposes, including in public discussion.

"Yes, I absolutely agree. If there are unsettled moments in the legislation ... we will have a record in the protocol conclusion, then we need to correct these things. As for food production, there is a political solution. There are different ways to treat him, including scientists, but there is," Dvorkovich said, recalling that the Russian legislator bans the cultivation and cultivation of GMOs and animals, except for scientific works.
