M.Oreshkin: Russia does not see risks in the dispute with the WTO on pork

Russia does not see the risk of losing the dispute in the WTO about the legitimacy of restricting imports of European pork, TASS quotes the words of the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Oreshkin, told journalists on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"We had consultations with the European Union. A well-known story. In fact, EU colleagues admitted that there is no great opportunity to defend their position and implement retaliatory measures in the amount of € 1.3 billion. Therefore, we agreed with them to continue consultations in order to complete the dispute. Here we do not see any risks, we were able to eliminate all risks without losses for Russia," Minister said.

Oreshkin added that access of Russian products to the EU market raises questions from Russia, here "not everything is clean" from the EU. "We will continue to work with our colleagues from the European Union, we will gradually raise questions about access of Russian products to the European market, because we believe that here too, not everything is transparent from the EU, and if we talk about free trade, then it should be free trade in all directions," he said, refusing to explain which moments are causing criticism from Russia.
