The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia proposes to introduce a mechanism for quoting palm oil in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union countries. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Evgeny Nepoklonov said that this proposal was made after analyzing the volumes of import and ways of using palm oil in the country.
In 2012, the volume of palm oil imported to Russia amounted to about 600 thousand tons, and in 2017 - more than 1 million tons. "We say: let's see how these volumes were used, for what purposes an additional 400 thousand tons were sent," says Nepoklonov. The quota for Russia can be fixed at the import level of 2012, that is 600 thousand tons. According to Rosstat, the supply of palm oil and its fractions to Russia in January this year amounted to 72.7 thousand tons, which is 27.8% more than in January last year.
