February 21, 2017, Day of Science celebrations took place in Omsk SAU. Oksana Shumakova, the Rector of Omsk SAU, Deputy Chairman of Omsky Biocluster General Meeting and the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region, Maksim Chekusov addressed the public with welcoming remarks. The Minister emphasized that nowadays not only the integration of science and production is important but also the interaction between educational and scientific institutions is crucial. Maksim Chekusov visited the Students Design Bureau, familiarized with the computer-controlled machine, which helps students to develop their practical skills during the training.
The event was attended by Vice-Rector for Research of Omsk SAU, Deputy Chairman of Omsky Biocluster Board, Vitaly Aleshchenko, leading scientists and students of Omsk SAU and a number of Omsk SAU partners, namely:
- Omsk Experimental Plant FSUE;
- Agrochemical Service Center Omsky FSBI;
- Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture FSBSI;
- All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Brucellosis and Tuberculosis of Animals FSBSI;
- Siberian Research Institute of Poultry FSBSI;
- Siberian Experimental Station FSBSI.
Oksana Shumakova:
“Today, the University has a solid research base, which counts over 20 up-to-day labs, such as the laboratory of selection and seed production of field crops named after S.I. Leontiev, the laboratory of cereals genetics, the laboratory of reagents, sensorics and product quality management. Over 100 years there were trained 83 000 graduates and 1500 post-graduates. We have 21 successfully operating scientific schools and 9 scientific fields nowadays. Last Day of Science we established a business incubator, this year we opened a training and innovative center of materials processing at the faculty of technical service in agribusiness. Omsk State Agrarian University has been consistently fulfilling the tasks of Russian President to train qualified personnel for the national agriculture, as well as the development and implementation of effective scientific developments in the real economy.”
The Science Day celebration ended up with awarding ceremony in the Students Culture Center. Omsk SAU staff members were awarded honorary and gratitude certificates by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region for significant contributions in the development of regional agriculture, great achievements in agricultural science and education and in connection with Day of science. The celebration ceremony memorably crowned with the concert of creative teams.
