Agriculture: profitability growth

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia estimated that from 2013 to 2016 the profitability of agricultural production increased by 2.2 times. As the Izvestiya agency reported, the indicator continues to grow.

First of all, the milk producers felt the benefits, explaining the increase in profitability in the growth of demand for raw materials. Producers of meat and vegetables said that the slow growth of exports does not allow talking about increased profitability.

The growth of exports in the grain sector over the past three years has led to an increase in average product prices by 20%. This was reported to Izvestia by the president of the National Union of Grain Producers Pavel Skurikhin. However, according to him, the currency changes caused the growth of the cost price. Agrarians are forced to spend more money on plant protection products, seed material and agricultural machinery.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2016 the ratio between profit and costs of agricultural producers was 16.4%. This is 2.2 times more than in 2013 (then this figure reached only 7.3%). As added in the department, profitability in the Q1 2017 exceeded last year's figures and reached 16.9%.
