Alexander Tkachev on Clusters Support

March 3, 2017, during his visit to Novosibirsk region Alexander Tkachev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, took part in a meeting concerning the presentation of the regional agro-biotech scientific and educational cluster at the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

Alexander Tkachev supported the idea of scientific and educational cluster formation, drawing attention to the importance of agricultural research, especially in selection and seed production and creation of new technologies for the agribusiness effective development.

 

"Science and practice should interact. Today, growth in any industry is impossible without modern developments. The establishment of such clusters will enable us to reduce, and eventually completely refuse from imported crops seeds, on which, I regret to say, we depend now," the Minister said. Participants of the meeting, including Vladimir Gorodetsky, the Governor of Novosibirsk region, have set out the following tasks for the Siberian Federal Research Center of Agro-Bio Technologies of the RAS: establishment of the cluster and development of workforce capacities for achieving the strategic goals. Alexander Denisov, rector of Novosibirsk State Agrarian University noted that the university will be involved in the implementation of this project.
