Dzhambulat Khatuov: to reduce dependence on imports of fodder lysine

July 10, 2017 the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov held a meeting on the development of the market of domestic fodder lysine. The first deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that the high growth rates of poultry and pig production in Russia increase the consumption of essential amino acids, including fodder lysine.

"The demand of Russian producers in the feed lysine was about 100 thousand tons in 2016. Of this amount, almost 97 thousand tons were imported from abroad. Our task is to increase the production of Russian lysine and recommend the producers of livestock products for consumption of domestic lysine," - Dzhambulat Khatuov outlined the priorities. According to experts, annual growth in lysine demand by 2020 will be about 2% per year. As a result, the development of measures to reduce dependence on foreign supplies is urgent now.

Representatives of enterprises for the production of livestock products, importing companies of fodder lysine expressed their opinion on ways to solve the task of import substitution of lysine. Following the results of the discussion, Dzhambulat Khatuov instructed the profile departments of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia to continue work on import substitution of feed lysine in Russia. He noted that the industry faces the challenge of regaining the positions lost in the 1990s.
