May 24, 2017 the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov and the Director of the Department of Livestock and Breeding Kharon Amerkhanov held an all-Russian meeting on improving the breeding base in dairy cattle (information of the Press Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia).
During the meeting, Dzhambulat Khatuov stressed the importance of increasing the productivity of the dairy herd for the development of the industry. "Achievement of self-sufficiency for milk is possible provided that more than 800 dairy farms are built by 2020. At the same time, we should achieve average productivity in agricultural organizations at a level of not less than 6000 kg per year," the First Deputy Minister said. He added that the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is facing the task of attracting investments in dairy cattle breeding. Dzhambulat Khatuov also approved a program of activities aimed at the development of the breeding base of livestock for 2017-2018.
The main report at the event was made by Kharon Amerkhanov, detailing the current situation in dairy cattle breeding. According to Kharon Amerkhanov, the growth of dairy productivity is observed due to the improvement of productive qualities and creation of conditions for the maximum realization of the genetic potential of animals by improving the technology of maintenance, including the organization of full-fledged feeding.
