EU: growth in the segment of organic products consumption

The attitude of consumers to organic products remains different. Nevertheless, organic has become a powerful marketing trend, which develops independently of other factors. In particular, fresh vegetables and fruits are a segment that grows faster among organic products (for a year - by 7.4%), Agronews reports citing FAO experts.

 

Experts note that the organic tomatoes subsegment is growing most rapidly (plus 13.1% for a year). Salads have grown by almost 9% and ready-to-eat packaged organic dishes (mainly vegetable and fruit sliced) grow very fast. In general, sales of organic fruits grew 12.6% for a year.

 

President of Omsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (member of Omsky Biocluster) Tatiana Khoroshavina:

"A number of Omsk CCI members together with Omsky Biocluster are studying this trend today. Problems requiring solutions are: confirmation of products under the brand 'organic' to the corresponding standards of origin of the goods, logistics to the consumer. Undoubtedly, the retailer of organics should use Internet commerce, that segment in Russia is steadily growing".
