Fake milk will detected using a smartphone

St. Petersburg stores will sell milk with special QR-codes. If you bring a smartphone to the packaging, the display will show information about the farm with which milk was collected, the date of delivery to the dairy and other data about the product, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to the administration of St. Petersburg, the decision to use such technologies was made in the framework of a trilateral cooperation agreement signed by the city authorities, the largest retailer of St. Petersburg and a large milk producer. The city administration believes that the new system will protect citizens from falsified milk, because now any buyer will be able to trace the entire chain of movement of the product from the producer of raw materials to the supermarket.

The introduction of such technologies is discussed throughout the country. Petersburg has become a pilot region in this direction. City authorities expect that over time, the program will join other manufacturers and retailers.
