Food and feed safety: the results of the Q3 2017

Q3 2017, the Laboratory of Quality and Safety of Products of Animal and Plant Origin, Feeds and Environmental Facilities of the Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor (member of Omsky Biocluster) received 1,089 samples. 10672 tests were carried out, with the help of which 98 poor-quality samples were identified.

 

Excess humidity was found in a sample of oatmeal. The increased content of hydroxymethyl furfural and the mass fraction of titrated acids is found in two samples of the honey product. Excess of cadmium is found in rapeseed. 13 samples of grain crops did not meet the requirements for protein, moisture, nature, weed impurity and organoleptic characteristics. Deviations in the mass fraction of gluten and ash are found in wheat flour samples. The sample of meat of wild birds did not meet the requirements of the normative documentation on the content of mercury and cadmium. Ten samples of butter and cheese have not been tested for fatty acid content, for the content of sterols and nitrates. One sample of the chemical plant protection products did not comply with the declared information on the content of the active substance. Three soil samples were contaminated with oil products. The increased content of benzpyrene is recorded in four soil samples.
