Import of palm oil to Russia fell

The import of palm oil into the country, which is actively used in the production of dairy products, for the Q1 2017 decreased by 17%. The volume of imports has reached the lowest level since 2015, Izvestia writes.

In the first three months of 2017, the import of palm oil into the country amounted to 193.8 thousand tons, which is 17% less than in the same period a year earlier (227 thousand tons). At the same time 40% of palm oil in Russia is imported to the Voronezh region. The company EFKO (brands Sloboda and Altero) is the largest buyer of palm oil. Producers explained the drop in import volumes by active production in the country of sunflower oil and prices falling on it. In addition, the control over the production of dairy products with the addition of vegetable fats intensified.
