According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight in farms of all categories for 5 months of 2017 amounted to 5.4 million tons, which is 3.1% more than the corresponding period last year.
The production of eggs in farms of all categories amounted to 18.2 billion pieces, which is 2.4% more than the level of the corresponding period of 2016.
As of June 1, 2017, the number of cattle in farms of all categories amounted to 19.7 million head or 98.6% of the corresponding period in 2016, including cows - 8.4 million heads or 98.6%. The number of pigs was 23.4 million head (+ 1%), sheep and goats - 27.1 million head (-0.8%), poultry in agricultural organizations - 465.2 million (+ 5.9%).
