The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region Maksim Chekusov commented at the briefing on the situation on the prohibition of peasant slaughter. The technical regulations of the Customs Union 'Safety of Meat and Meat Products' prohibited the sale of meat from farm animals to non-industrial production, that is, not slaughtered at meat processing plants, slaughter stations or slaughter sites.
Maksim Chekusov:
"I can assure you that no one will suffer from the introduction of the electronic Mercury system, except for speculators." Cattle are now being killed in the yard, biological waste is not disposed of, taken away by crows and dogs, and meat is transported to the market in unsuitable transport. Therefore, our main task, together with the Rosselkhoznadzor, the Chief Veterinary Department of Omsk region, is to ensure the safety and quality of meat, logistics, and create a system when the slaughter station will place orders."
Maksim Chekusov also noted that the future for provincial fairs, meat shops, retail trade, where the environmentally friendly products are supplied in accordance with all sanitary requirements.
At present, there are 42 slaughter stations and 7 meat processing enterprises engaged in safe industrial slaughter of meat in Omsk region. The correctness of the slaughter, in the first place, affects the quality of meat and its preservation. Meat and other slaughter products of animals can be sold only in the presence of veterinary accompanying documents. The automated system of veterinary certification 'Mercury' will become mandatory for all participants of the meat and dairy industries from January 1, 2018 and will allow tracking the origin of the product, its quality and compliance with sanitary requirements.
Prior to the briefing, Maksim Chekusov held a conference call with the heads of district agricultural administrations following the results of spring field work in the region. As of June 7, 2017, spring crops were sown on an area of 2.71 million hectares or 98.3% of the plan, oil crops were sown in 24 districts on an area of 180,600 hectares (9,600 more level of 2016) or 105.6% of the plan.
The head of the Omsk branch of Rosselkhozbank (member of Omsky Biocluster) Lev Yaneev told about the situation of preferential loans to agrarians. To date, Rosselkhozbank is considering applications for concessional lending in the amount of about 400 million rubles ($ 7 million) for the purchase of agricultural equipment.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region Maksim Chekusov, summing up the results of the conference call, said:
"Today we have to think over the formation of the harvest, strictly observe the technology for the application of organic fertilizers, and also provide all farms with plant protection products and machinery for processing and spraying crops." The minister instructed the heads of the agricultural administrations to carry out the acceptance of crops in the districts before June 20 and report back to the Ministry on the work done. The final meeting on the completion of the sowing campaign is scheduled for June 13.
