The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation sets a goal to increase the milk productivity of cows in agricultural organizations on average in Russia to 6 tons of milk by 2020. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Evgeny Nepoklonov, speaking at the opening of the dairy forum in Vologda.
Nepoklonov noted that in 2016 milk yield per cow in Russian agricultural enterprises increased by an average of 230 kg. and amounted to 5,270 kg. Dairy productivity of livestock in agricultural enterprises increased by 500 kg over the past two years. The average milk yield per cow in agricultural enterprises in 42 Russian regions is 5 tons or more. At the same time, it is potentially possible to increase this figure in 20 regions.
Currently, dairy cattle breeding has significant reserves for increasing milk production. And the main reserve is the realization of the genetic potential of the dairy herd, which is currently used for a maximum of 60%. "The level of implementation of these activities largely depends, first of all, on the implementation of work on the territory of the subjects of the Russian Federation and directly on farms," Nepoklonov stressed.
Issues of breeding in Omsk region are practiced by Omsky Biocluster's 'Genetics and Breeding of Cattle Practice', which is an expert site on the audit of feeding and care of the herd, selection of genetics and implementation of cattle breeding. Experts of the Practice carry out practical activities to improve the efficiency of the functioning of farms and increase the financial result, first of all, from the available resources.
