Omsk agrarians: a good harvest-2017

The interim results of the harvesting campaign were summed up at a press conference by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region Maxim Chekusov.

 

According to the Minister, harvesting was delayed due to weather conditions, but the harvest turned out good. Agrarians were able to harvest 3.4 million tonnes of grain with a yield of 16.2 c/ha. A unique result is obtained in terms of quality: 80% of Omsk grain has improved food characteristics.

 

The thrashing of oilseeds (rapeseed, flaxlseed, soybean, sunflower) is being carried out at a high rate. 131.2 thousand hectares were harvested or 67.8% of the harvest area, 151.8 thousand tons were harvested, the average yield was 11.6 c/ha. The flax was removed from the area of 5 520 ha (94.4% of the plan).

 

The harvesting of vegetables and potatoes is nearing completion. Vegetables are harvested from an area of 8.1 thousand ha (96% of the plan), a gross harvest of 181.6 thousand tons, a yield of 226 c/ha. Potatoes were harvested from an area of 41.3 thousand ha (99.2% of the plan), a gross harvest of 797.7 thousand tons with a yield of 193 c/ha.

 

The farms of Omsk region actively updated the fleet of agricultural machinery with the assistance of state support: 138 new combine harvesters, 160 tractors, 38 self-propelled foragers, 45 seeding complexes were purchased. According to preliminary forecasts, the agrarians will purchase equipment worth at least 3.5 billion rubles ($ 61 million) this year.

 

Omsk region has a developed raw material base for the food industry. Within the framework of the agrocluster, a complex of modern productions is being formed, for development of which large and medium-sized organizations in 2016 sent 2.8 billion rubles ($ 48.87 million) of investments. Production in the region for 9 months amounted to 40 thousand tons of pork and 5 thousand tons of beef, 32 thousand tons of sausages, 73 thousand tons of milk, 5 thousand tons of butter, 7 thousand tons of cheese and cottage cheese, conditional cans of condensed dairy products, 24 thousand tons of ice cream, 18 thousand tons of cereals, 69 thousand tons of bakery products, 56 thousand tons of confectionery.
