The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region, at a conference call with the heads of districts and heads of agricultural administrations, discussed the current tasks for the harvest campaign, the process of harvesting fodder and the readiness of agricultural machinery.
Agrarians in 2017 will have to thresh more than 2 million 141 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops, 193.6 thousand hectares of oilseeds, remove flax-fiber from an area of 5.8 thousand hectares, potatoes and vegetables from an area of 52,6 thousand hectares. The harvesting of coarse and succulent fodder is continuing - agricultural organizations and farmers have harvested 187.5 thousand tons of hay (84.8% of the plan).
The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region Maxim Chekusov noted the aim of the agro-industrial complex of Omsk region to increase efficiency, recalling that the implementation of agrotechnical measures in a timely manner is the main condition for receiving state support funds:
"It is necessary to conduct an agrochemical survey of soils to know what fertilizers will be required in the future, to harvest quality seeds, to prepare fields, sowing winter crops and updating machinery."
