PEMF participants discussed cluster policy issues

Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Oleg Fomichev took part in the panel session "Localization as a Tool for Forming a Cluster Economy" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - 2017.

 

The participants of the PEMF discussed the issues related to the construction of cluster systems, including the use of such a cluster approach tool as localization of productions, as well as the role of small and medium businesses in supporting clusters. Oleg Fomichev noted that the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has long been engaged in a cluster theme and has already evolved in its own approaches to working with clusters and their development. "Now our position is that the federal authorities should support those clusters that can quickly become globally competitive.We need to compete, including at the level of clusters," the deputy minister stressed.
