May 25-26, 2017 Rosselkhoznadzor and the state administration of quality control, inspection and quarantine of China (AQSIQ) will discuss the problematic issues of Russian grain exports to China at the talks in Beijing.
The parties plan to discuss the expansion of the list of Russian regions that can supply grain to the Chinese market (the Amur and Chelyabinsk regions). At present, Krasnoyarsk and Altai Territories, Omsk and Novosibirsk regions can supply grain to China. China also allowed the supply of corn, rice and soybeans grown in Khabarovsk, Primorsky, Transbaikalian Territories, Amur region, Jewish Autonomous region, and rape from the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts. According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, China's import potential for grain is 11.5 million tons, including 3.5 million tons for wheat, 3 million tons for corn, and 5 million tons for barley. July 2015 - June 2016 Russia exported to China only 500 thousand tons of soybeans and 84 thousand tons of corn.
