Sergey Levin: export is the future of Russian agribusiness

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Sergey Levin said that Russia has almost completely solved the task of providing food and turns the vector from import substitution to export development. Following the results of 2016, the export of domestic agricultural products continued to grow and reached $ 17 billion (+ 4.3%), the press service of the Russian Agriculture Ministry reports.

"Deliveries of domestic foodstuffs abroad are diversified, and the supply of Russian goods to China has almost equaled that of our traditional buyer, Turkey. Other major buyers are Kazakhstan, South Korea and Egypt," Sergey Levin said. The Deputy Minister reminded that since January 1, the priority project 'Export of Agricultural Products', developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia to support Russian food exports, is in force. The aim of the project is to increase the volume of exports of agricultural products in 2018 to 19 billion dollars, in 2020 - to 21.4 billion dollars.

"The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is developing a Concept for Supporting and Promoting Regional Subbrands, as well as a roadmap for the implementation of this initiative. I am confident that positioning Russian goods by indicating the place of origin will be the basis for the faithful promotion of Russia's image in foreign markets," noted Sergey Levin.
