Sowing campaign in Omsk region ends

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region at a conference call in the Government of Omsk region summed up the results of the sowing campaign in the region, which has almost reached its end. As of June 13, 2017, the sowing of spring crops was carried out on an area of 2.7 million hectares or 99% of the plan.

 

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region, the total area under cultivation in 2017 will be more than 3 million hectares. Annual grasses are planned to sow on an area of 41.7 thousand hectares with a plan to sow 40 thousand hectares. Flax was sown on an area of about 6 thousand hectares (95.4%) with a plan for sowing 6.2 thousand hectares, potatoes: 44 thousand hectares or 99.9% of the plan, vegetable crops: 8.1 thousand hectares ( 98.8%).

 

As of June 13, 2017, agricultural producers purchased 10.4 thousand tons of elite seeds. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk Region notes that seeding in the region was carried out only with conditioning seeds.

 

Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region Maksim Chekusov:

"This year the agrarians provided a good seeding campaign, improved the quality of work, despite the difficult weather conditions. Now the main task is to monitor the crops in order not to lose the crop we are counting on, and also pay attention to the preparation of forage equipment and on the quality of feed."
