The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia suggests granting to Russian Railways JSC in 2017/18 MY subsidies in the amount of 3 billion rubles for compensation of lost revenues when transporting grain for export from remote regions of Russia.
Such conclusions follow from the government's draft resolution prepared by the ministry. As explained by the authors of the document, the allocation of this amount will compensate for the losses of Russian Railways when transporting about 3.2 million tons of grain for export from Russian regions. In addition, the organization of exports, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, will reduce the deficit of grain storage capacity, reduce the carry-over stocks at the end of the season and increase the level of procurement prices. It is expected that the decree will be adopted by the Russian government in November 2017.
