The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is preparing a concept for the promotion of 'origin place brand' products to foreign markets. Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture intends to increase the added value of products supplied abroad and, as a result, increase sales.
The share of the agro-industrial complex in Russian exports has doubled since 2011, to almost 6%, and by the end of 2016 it is $ 17 billion. Within five to seven years, the industry plans to increase sales of agricultural products in foreign markets to 40-50 billion. This can be achieved if the average annual export growth rate is 15%. By the autumn of 2016, the Ministry of Agriculture developed a draft program for the development of agricultural exports, according to which China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East are priority destinations for exports from Russia, and the main products are meat and meat by-products, grain, flour, cereals, fat and oil products, as well as ready-made food products.
