The EAEU technical regulation on fish

The Technical Regulations on the Fish and Fishery Products Safety (adopted by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission), began to operate from September 1, 2017. Omsk Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor FSUE (member of Omsky Biocluster) is included in the Unified Register of Certification Bodies and Test Laboratories (Centers) of the Eurasian Economic Union.

 

The technical regulation establishes requirements for fish products, which are released into circulation on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union. The action extends to food products derived from catches of aquatic biological resources and aquaculture, plant and animal origin in a processed and unprocessed form. The document specifies the mandatory requirements for the processes of production of fish products, its storage, sale, transportation, disposal, as well as packaging and labeling.

 

In particular, food fishery products must comply with the requirements of the Customs Union technical regulations, made of aquatic biological resources caught only from safe production areas in accordance with the planned monitoring of the safety of aquatic biological resources, and aquaculture facilities produced at enterprises that are veterinarily safe. Food products of aquaculture should not contain natural or synthetic hormonal substances and genetically modified organisms.

 

Products produced from poisonous fishes that do not conform to the consumer properties of organoleptic indicators, frozen products having a temperature above 18 degrees, defrosted during storage, containing biotoxins dangerous to human health, are not allowed to circulate on the territory of the EAEU.

 

The document defines the requirements for water quality, moisture content, glaze, salt, temperature and time modes of storage and packaging in the production of products.

 

Information. The EAEU is an international organization for regional economic integration, the agreement on the creation of which was signed on May 29, 2014. The union includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The EAEU was established on the basis of the Customs Union of the Eurasian Economic Community to strengthen the economies of the participating countries, to modernize them and to increase competitiveness in the world market.
