The total number of all pigs in the United States on September 1, 2017 amounted to a record 73.5 million heads, noted in the US Ministry of Agriculture. This is 2% higher than last year's figure for the same date and 3% higher than the level that was registered on June 1 of this year.
The number of commodity stock was 67.5 million head (+ 3%). According to Altin Kalo, Senior Analyst at Steiner Consulting Group, demand for pork remains good, which allows producers to save profits and high prices.
