The Russian market of organic products could double

The market of organic products in Russia by 2020 may double and amount to about 250 million dollars. Such data are given in the report of the Union of Organic Agriculture, Agroinvestor reports.

According to Sergei Korshunov, chairman of the board of the Union of Organic Agriculture, currently the volume of the Russian market of organic products is about 120 million dollars. Growth is possible primarily due to organic crop production. At the same time, the domestic market will not develop at a very high pace, despite the possible emergence of a law on organic products (its adoption is expected in autumn). Promotion of organic products requires an increase in consumption, and this requires an increase in the well-being of the population. Korshunov believes that the export of raw materials for its processing abroad can become a driver of organic growth. The need for such raw materials for foreign productions exists already now, Korshunov notes.
