OrganicTradeAssotiation published a report according to which in 2016 sales of organic products in the US increased by 8% compared to 2015 and amounted to 47 billion US dollars, reports soyanews.info.
Sergei Korshunov, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Organic Agriculture:
"The USA is the largest potential buyer of Russian organic products and production facilities for this sector - biofertilizers, microbiological preparations, etc. Now Russia can meet the requests of Western companies for certified organic products by only 5%. Foreign companies are ready to purchase certified organic corn at a price of $ 230, which is 60% more expensive than not certified. Stable demand also exists for grain and grain-leguminous crops with a markup of up to 100%, organic millet and buckwheat are purchased at 60% higher than the regular price."
Organic agriculture and biological farming are the most important elements of technological integration in the world market. These directions were among the leading trends in the forecast of scientific and technological development of the agrarian and industrial complex of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030, prepared by the Higher School of Economics and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation in January 2017.
