For the first time in 26 years, an outbreak of classical swine fever (CSF) was detected in Japan. The presence of a viral disease, also known as porcine cholera, has been confirmed by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture.

Consumption of turkey in the US declines for the second year in a row. It is predicted that this year the decline will be 0.3 pounds (0.14 kg.) after a decrease of 0.2 pounds (0.09 kg.) in 2017.
