The 'ban everything' slogan becomes an food security element
The National Meat Association, which includes the largest producers of meat and meat products, such as Miratorg and Cherkizovo, appealed to Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeyev with a proposal to ban private individuals from importing meat and dairy products from abroad for personal use (for current rules, Russians may import up to 5 kg of animal products for personal use). The production of poultry for slaughter in live weight in Q1 2019 in Russia amounted to 1.62 million tons, which is 4.0% more than a year earlier (agricultural companies: about 1.54 million tons, +4.4 % to the level of 2017).
